It all begins with an idea
The idea about India by Motorcycle started around a campfire in Cedar Flats campout with BMW NorCal club where we were camping in the summer of 2022. Everyone around the campfire heard what Mike said, "You can put together a personal trip for all of us to see India through your eyes."
In the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area, Ravi lives with his wife, their three children, and a laid-back Australian sheep dog. Ravi's passion for adventure was evident in his love for riding motorcycles, especially on thrilling journeys that took him far from home.
One day, Ravi reached out to his long-time old friend Sandeep in Nasik, who would be pivotal in helping to pull together a once-in-a-lifetime trip through India, a country Ravi and Sandeep knew well from their childhood. This epic adventure would cover 4,500 miles, spanning six states over 36 days. The journey promised to be a tapestry of experiences, from the dense jungles where tigers roamed to the majestic Taj Mahal, a symbol of eternal love. The travelers would sleep on the warm sands of Goa's beaches by the Arabian Sea and wake up to the cool, misty hills of the Western Ghats. They would traverse the fabled small towns like Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, each with its own unique charm and history.
Ravi anticipated the journey would take 30 to 36 days, excluding travel to and from India. Understanding that not everyone could commit to the entire trip, he made it possible for partners to join for only part of the journey. This was not a commercial tour but a personal endeavor to offer riders a chance to see India through the eyes of a local, at a very reasonable cost.
The package included accommodation, breakfast and dinners, a Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle, fuel, a backup vehicle for bags, mechanic support, two support vehicles, paramedic ambulance support, and local support riders to assist with the ride. However, personal items, alcoholic drinks, and sightseeing fees were not included. Additionally, an extra minivan or SUV would follow the tour for those who preferred to travel in air-conditioned comfort.
With only 20 places left, Ravi invited those eager for an unforgettable adventure to reach out and join him on this extraordinary journey.
